Water baptism is a public profession of your faith in Jesus Christ.
Here at Canyon View Vineyard Church we believe that baptism is available to all believers.
What is water baptism?
1. ....a way to show that we personally identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
2. ...a physical picture of the spiritual salvation experience that has happened inside us.
3. ...a public confession of our relationship with God through Jesus our Savior and Lord.
If I was baptized as a child, does it count?
Just as we believe that a person must make their own commitment to follow Jesus, we
also believe that the individual needs to make their own decision about publicly expressing
and confessing that relationship with God. A child can certainly make a decision to follow
Jesus, and we will provide an opportunity for them to be baptized. At the same time we do
not encourage a child to get baptized if they do not yet understand the full meaning of
what they are doing.
Is sprinkling considered authentic baptism?
Baptism is a picture of Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection. In accordance we like to see people baptized with the full effect, which means total immersion under water. At the same
time, if someone desires baptism and an opportunity for total immersion is not available,
we will evaluate the best means of allowing the individual to participate in the baptism experience.
If I’m not baptized am I considered saved?
The Bible is clear when it says we are not saved by works of our own flesh. Baptism is not the
act of salvation, but is an obedient response to it. We believe in baptism and fully desire every member in the Body of Christ to partake of this act of faith and testimony.
Do I need to get baptized in this church if I’ve already been baptized before?
We do not require anyone to get baptized into our Church. We baptize in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, not Canyon View Vineyard Church. Sometimes we do have individuals who wish to express their zeal and gladly accommodate this desire.
Romans 6:3-7 NIV
Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin.
Romans 6:8-11 NIV
Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
