DISCIPLESHIP

Discipleship is a journey in developing your personal faith walk with Jesus.

John 8:31-32

“To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Matthew 4:19

“Come, follow me,” Jesus said.

What is discipleship?

Discipleship is an open door for growing as a Christian. A disciple is simply someone who believes in Jesus and seeks to follow him in his or her daily life.  Discipleship is an experiential commitment to the process of following Jesus.  This means opening the heart to learning, accountability, and applying the truth of the Gospel of Jesus to our daily faith walk.  This is best accomplished when we meet with a mature Christian mentor/discipler who can guide us in an authentic process of Christian growth.

Discipleship happens in the context of a relationship. This is exemplified and modeled by Jesus Himself.  In the three years following their initial call to follow Jesus, the disciples would grow in their relationship and understanding of God's promise and their relationship and fellowship with one another as they walked through real life together.  Discipleship is for us today one of the most, if not the most, important commitment we can make!  Practically speaking, discipleship is most beneficial in one-on-one settings, or in “micro-pods” of two or three.

SALVATION is a one-time event. It happens the moment someone believes in Jesus for everlasting life. DISCIPLESHIP is a long-term process of growth.  Jesus advised us to be His disciples!
